The co-main event featured a number-one contender fight between two undefeated fighters, Ian Machado Garry and Shavkat Rakhmonov. The fight went to a close decision, with Rakhmonov maintaining his undefeated record but losing his finishing streak, as prior to this bout, Rakhmonov had never gone the distance. Garry managed to outstrike Rakhmonov during the fight, but Rakhmonov secured eleven minutes and forty-one seconds of control time against the Irishman. Rakhmonov is undoubtedly the number-one contender and is set to face Belal Muhammad in his next fight for the welterweight championship of the world.
The main event was a contest for the flyweight championship of the world. Alexandre Pantoja managed to submit Kai Asakura in the second round via a rear-naked choke, rendering Asakura unconscious. In his post-fight interview, Pantoja called for Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson to come out of retirement and face him. He declared, “Demetrious Johnson, I’m the GOAT here. If you want to prove you’re the GOAT, come back.” Johnson is widely regarded as the best in flyweight history and arguably one of the greatest of all time in the sport. Pantoja’s callout demonstrates his ambition to cement his legacy as not just the best in the flyweight division but in the entire sport.
