Paddy Pimblett has expressed interest in facing recent lightweight title challenger Renato Moicano.

Moicano was recently defeated by lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, who submitted him in the first round of their short-notice bout. Moicano stepped in on just one day's notice after Arman Tsarukyan withdrew due to injury.

Pimblett criticised Moicano's performance, particularly how quickly he tapped out to Makhachev. Pimblett suggested that Moicano should have "gone out on his shield" and been willing to go to sleep rather than submit.

In response, Moicano fired back on Instagram, declaring he would make Pimblett tap if they were to fight. He also pointed out that Pimblett has never taken a short-notice fight, indirectly defending his own decision to step in against Makhachev.

If this fight were to happen in 2025, it is difficult to envision Pimblett securing a victory. Moicano's level of competition is significantly higher than what Pimblett has faced, and his performances over the past year have been impressive. However, Pimblett remains a dangerous contender. Wins against seasoned opponents like Bobby Green and Tony Ferguson add weight to his resume, making it unwise to completely rule him out. That said, Pimblett would likely enter the fight as the underdog.
