Flyweight to Watch: Bilal Hasan

Bilal Hasan is the current CFFC flyweight champion and remains undefeated, boasting a record of six wins, no losses, and one no contest. 

Hasan defended his flyweight title at CFFC 139, headlining against Brian Houser. He secured victory by TKO in the second round due to body strikes. 

Hasan has finished all of his opponents—five by knockout and one by submission. Such a high finish rate is particularly impressive in the flyweight division, which is known for its fast pace and high volume striking rather than frequent knockouts. This demonstrates Hasan’s exceptional power and ability to capitalise on openings, setting him apart from many of his peers. His submission win over Jose Leon highlights his creativity in the cage, as he, in a scramble, leapt over Leon's back and effortlessly secured a rear-naked choke. Another standout moment was his spinning wheel kick knockout of Jacob Romano, prompting UFC lightweight Renato Moicano to predict Hasan's rise to stardom.

 

Although still in the early stages of his career, Bilal Hasan has displayed dominance in every bout. Even in fights he is clearly winning, he continues to hunt for the finish. 

However, Hasan has yet to face truly elite competition. His six opponents hold a combined record of 21–17–1, which indicates he has not yet fought UFC-level fighters. Nonetheless, this could be beneficial, as gaining experience and confidence is crucial for young athletes. 

Hasan is likely to make his UFC debut in late 2025 or early 2026, either after defending his CFFC belt or competing on Dana White's Contender Series. 

At present, Hasan would struggle in the UFC due to the disparity between his striking and ground game. To reach the top level, he could look to fighters like Brandon Moreno, whose well-rounded skill set and seamless transitions between striking and grappling have made him a dominant force in the division. The flyweight division is one of the fastest-paced and most technically demanding, requiring well-rounded skills. However, at just 23 years old, Hasan has ample time to refine his grappling and reach the upper echelon of the division. 

Overall, Bilal Hasan is an exciting prospect worth following, as his relentless finishing ability, creative grappling, and dynamic striking make him a standout talent in the MMA landscape. If his career is managed correctly, he could become a UFC champion within the next five years.
