Ilia Topuria will not defend his 145-pound title, his coach has revealed. Over the past week, Topuria has expressed interest in fighting at 155 pounds, highlighting Charles Oliveira as his next potential opponent.


This matchup becomes all the more likely if Topuria follows through on his intention to vacate his featherweight title. Such a move would render a rematch with Alexander Volkanovski impossible. However, it could pave the way for a rematch with Max Holloway in the future.


Holloway himself recently announced his departure from the featherweight division following his loss to Topuria. This development makes a showdown at 155 pounds between the two fighters a plausible scenario down the line.
